mechanical keyboard LED malfunction question

jotaro , 04-16-2026, 07:35 AM
I have a AULA F75 mechanical keyboard which has some of the LEDs malfunctioning, there is no pattern to their malfunction (like not working in a straight row or column). So some of the LEDs do not show accurate colors and I notice there to be some current leakage on the malfunctioning ones so they will glow a faint blue even when the LED is toggled to off and 0 brightness. Is there any known documentation that describes this phenomenon? Why does it behave like this? A trace issue? or LED issue? or something else?

Amoniak affecting the silver reflector?

what

I edited my message to make it a bit clearer

So is the problem that the LEDs are not producing light or that there is a faint glow when they are (or should be) off?

they produce a faint glow that is dark bluish when they should be off on the malfunctioning keys
the malfunction is at random keys too, no straight pattern

when they are on, then it would be discolored compared to the other keys

the keyboard was often used with rainbow effect waving from left to right

the malfunctioning keys are not near WASD too which are the most often pressed keys when gaming

"...malfunctioning keys" or LEDs that fail?
Which color fails?

There are many reasons LEDs fail, especially the addressable LEDs. I mentioned one already (my first comment).
Half of them are in the production process.

LED on the pcb, keys do not have LED on them
the failing color is blue

I would like to clarify - the keyboard used to work ok, it just started malfunctioning after some time? If yes, for how long it was working ok?
jotaro , 04-17-2026, 07:56 AM
for over a year it worked fine and then out of nowhere the LEDs malfunction, but the keys still work and press ok

Interesting. are they randomly failing or always the same LEDs? Once they fail, are they always failing or sometimes they start working ok and then they fail again?
jotaro , 04-17-2026, 09:35 AM
the same LEDs
jotaro , 04-17-2026, 09:35 AM
they never work properly again

this is when all LED should be off

jotaro , 04-17-2026, 09:38 AM
this is when the led is on, i have set to max brightness so it is easier to notice the discoloration
jotaro , 04-17-2026, 09:39 AM
yeah see blue is the failing color
jotaro , 04-17-2026, 09:39 AM
that is the esc key
jotaro , 04-17-2026, 09:44 AM
it looks the discoloration does not follow the pattern of the faint blue glow when it should be off as well
Robert Feranec , 04-20-2026, 06:24 AM
"the same LEDS, they ver work properly again" ... looks like for some reason the leds are failing (?)
jotaro , 04-20-2026, 11:31 AM
but why
Robert Feranec , 04-20-2026, 12:16 PM
could be many reasons ... from material disintegration up to running over specification. wrong material or wrong design of LED, wrong circuit design, influence of chemicals .... or something more fundamental or simpler
