Need Guidance

Hi All,

I want to design a mobile charger with USB-C. I was checking reference designs and application notes but wasn't able to find one. Can anyone please help me with this.

@QDrives please check if following documents are fine for the study or not?
I found these 2 documents which I think fit for the study.

Seems complete.
Do note that they are mains powered. Mains power can kill you.

Ok. Thanks.

If I want to design it with PMIC then what I can do?
Design Requirenment-
Vin= 220VAC
Vout= 5V
Iout- 1A
Power 5W or 10W

I dig a little bit on google and found the following circuit. Pls suggest.

Why I want in PMIC is because I tried the above design and found the ICs U1 and U2 is obselte and didn't found any alternate and when I discussed with my mentor then he said design with PMIC. So I am trying to find any IC or reference circuit which will help me to fulfil my requirenment. I am searching online right now as well. But it will be helpful if you will help parallely so it will make my work easier.

Did you also check this: https://webench.ti.com/power-designer/switching-regulator?powerSupply=1
And I would do isolated.
Neeraj , 03-05-2025, 03:15 PM
Yes, I tried this but simulation is not available for the circuit so I am not able to validate whether the circuit is correct or not.

You can also check here: https://www.power.com/?segment=none

Same problem. Nothing is here.
QDrives , 03-07-2025, 05:00 PM
What do you mean "nothing is here"? Power Integrations has plenty of AC to DC power solutions.

Basically I tried but didnt find anything which will help me.. or maybe I searched wrong. I am still exploring the site. I will let you know if I didnt get anything. I also find some circuits in webench. They have report attaching like output is 5V 1A etc. but nothing is like with PMIC. Still exploring. I will let you know if I need more help.

@QDrives I have finalized the schematic. Let me know if any modifications or changes you think.

D7 is not correct
Perhaps place some capacitors across the bridge rectifier (10n...100n)
Make sure you work on grid and that the components are on that same grid.
2 different (electrolytic) capacitor symbols
Leave some more space in the schematic where the arrow points to.
Make you net labels bigger if they are used elsewhere too.
From the layout it is difficult to what is on to and bottom.
Make sure you can have a clear line for the creepage and clearance between primary and secondary.
If I recall correctly, you need 8mm creepage and 6.4mm clearance. But better find a 60950 standard and check.
