Ground Polygon connection problem

Clarice Starling , 11-23-2024, 06:28 PM
Hi,
I saw that the point shown in the image below is connected very weakly. Is there a way to fix this?

Not only weak, but a production problem.
The simplest solution may be to use rounded rectangle pads, with optionally a very low rounding.
You will notice that the clearance then suddenly is not square either.

The point I marked is not a pad. It is a GND polygon covering the entire card. However, there is a very weak transition in the area I marked.

I know, but look at the screenshot I share here.
The left pad is square, the middle is rounded rectangle with 1% rounding and the right one has 50% rounding.
Notice the polygon pour around them.
So in your case, the polygon may connect properly if you set the pads to rounded rectangle.

Then on the polygon, as I got slightly different results"
Which version of Altium?
What settings did you set for the polygon?

I am using standard settings for polygon and also noticed a strange situation.
I am trying to fix weak connections manually like here, but if I make a road connection to strengthen a gnd line, it does not connect that road to the polygon and opens around it. Can we fix this?

why does it leave a space here?
trace is GND
Polygon is gnd

version 25.0.2

Yes, for one reason I do not know, the default setting for polygons is just terrible in that regard.
You should change the setting that I point to in the screenshot here

thank you it worked 🙂

From your screenshot - do not place a track like that between pads. Either go out and round or inside and round.
If you leave it like that, after production (soldering) you will often see a "short circuit". I spend many hours trying to fix such 'shorts'.

is it good ?
